병리학 교실 Department of Pathology

인체에 발생하는 질환의 원리, 병인, 분류, 증상, 경과 등에 대하여 공부함으로써 임상의학을 배우는데 기초가 되게 한다. 질병상태에서 기능적으로 변화되는 병태생리, 형태학적인 변화 등에 대하여 이론적인 학습 및 실습을 통한 현장교육 등이 이용된다. 세포손상, 염증, 종양, 감염성질환, 면역계질환, 순환장애, 환경요인에 의한 질병 등 병리학 총론과 소화기질환, 호흡기질환, 혈액질환, 신경계질환, 내분비계질환 등에 대한 병리학 각론을 공부한다.

Pathology is the study and diagnosis of disease through examination of organs, tissues, bodily fluids, and whole bodies (autopsies). The term also encompasses the related scientific study of disease processes, called General pathology. Medical pathology is divided in two main branches, Anatomical pathology and Clinical pathology. General pathology, also called investigative pathology, experimental pathology or theoretical pathology, is a broad and complex scientific field which seeks to understand the mechanisms of injury to cells and tissues, as well as the body’s means of responding to and repairing injury. Areas of study include cellular adaptation to injury, necrosis, inflammation, wound healing and neoplasia. It forms the foundation of pathology, the application of this knowledge to diagnose diseases in humans and animals.
